Sight4Kids is an exciting program of cbm – geared for kids here in Canada – giving them the chance to give sight to kids in the poorest countries of our world.
Right now, as you read this page, one child goes blind every minute. Over one and a half million kids are already blind. And 7 million can barely see. They certainly can’t see well enough to go to school or to cope with life in a poor economy.
The really heartbreaking thing is, for children who go blind in a developing country, most of them will die before their 13th birthday. Sight is a life and death issue.
And you can make a difference!
By collecting gifts of $4 – from friends, classmates, family members, or a church group that you attend – you are literally saving sight and lives!
$4 will give a child enough vitamin A to prevent blindness throughout the most vulnerable early childhood years – from one to six . Vitamin A deficiency is currently the number one cause
of blindness in children.
$4 will
give a child four rounds of antibiotic eye cream – the
best way to fight off the active trachoma eye
infection. Trachoma will eventually blind a young adult if he
or she gets the infection often enough as a child.
$4 will
also buy a pair of special, really powerful eyeglasses for children
who have extremely low vision. A lot of these kids are actually
considered to be blind. Nine out of ten of them never get a chance
to go to school. So they never get the chance to break the cycle
of poverty they’re born into.
