In countries throughout the developing world, intellectual disability
is frequently seen as a curse from God. The very real difficulties
of intellectual disability are compounded by stigma. Too often the
stigma leads to neglect, further unnecessary developmental delays,
tragic lives and early death.
You can transform this "curse" with the living
love of Christ.
A lack of adequate pre and ante-natal care, widespread malnutrition,
rampant malaria, and heightened incidences of conditions like
hydrocephalus, microcephalus and spina bifida in developing countries
mean that most of the estimated 100 million men, women and
children living with some degree of intellectual disablity can
be found in the poorer countries of the world.
Through community-based care programs, cbm is finding and enabling
thousands of these people each year. Last year, we helped more
than 48,000 people with special intellectual needs.
You can make a difference.
